Put on your pirate and fair maiden outfits, eye patches and wooden legs! Come on out and enjoy the annual Pirate Invasion and Mermaid Festival at the Belmont Pier / Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool in Long Beach, California.
The Belmont Shore area beach will be turned into a 16th Century Caribbean Village. 100’s of costumed pirates are coming to Long Beach for a summer weekend adventure.
There will be a pirate fleet full of sea going angry men that will invade the beach and attack other pirates protecting their encampment. Cannons from the ships will fire at the pier and it will be quite a sight! Watch as the pirates board small boats and storm the beach!!!
There is going to be about 35 mermaids swimming at the Mer-Tropolis/Mermaid Village otherwise known as the Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool. Do not be surprised if you see Neptune or Poseidon.
Sword fights, cannon & musket battles, treasure hunt, children and adult costume contest, live music, arts and crafts, live and dj entertainment.
The parking lot between the pier and the Belmont Plaza Pool and the parking east of the pool.
Admission is FREE– Food, Beverage & Merchandise is for sale.

The 81st Annual Great Sand Sculpture Contest brings together families, community and artists to celebrate in one of the most defining elements of our community: our local beach! Inspired by the event’s theme, “Sculpting Literacy in Your Community” community and professional teams will be challenged to sculpt their story of our great community and inspire promoting literacy in Long Beach.
The Great Sand Sculpture Competition is held at the Granada Ave portion of Belmont Shore, Long Beach. This is another great event that happens in Long Beach. There are professional sand castle / sculptors here along with people that like to play in the sand come out and enjoy the great weather we have in Long Beach.
The Great Sand Sculpture contest is brought to you on behalf of Rotaract Long Beach, The Long Beach Sea Festival, and Alfredo’s Beach Shack. The event is a hosted as part of the summer event series managed Long Beach city’s Sea Festival organization. This event is made possible due to the contributions of our sponsors: Kool-Aid, the Port of Long Beach, the Long Beach Sea Festival, and the Arts Council of Long Beach.
Sculptures entering the competition will be judged on uniqueness, difficulty and how well they fit the theme. Sign up in advance as an event team or event sponsor. All proceeds from the Great Sand Sculpture Contest will be donated to promoting childhood and adult literacy in our community through the Long Beach Public Library Foundation

Downtown Long Beach
5th Annual Latin American Festival returns to Downtown Long Beach on Saturday, September 7, in a new location. Co-produced by the Downtown Long Beach Associates (DLBA) and Vice Mayor Robert Garcia, the event will take place on Historic Old Pine Avenue at 7th Street from 5pm – 10pm.
The evening’s festivities will include live performances from acclaimed bands La Santa Cecilia and Raul Pacheco Y Los Dragones de Cumbia. La Santa Cecilia is a Los Angeles based music group that has performed with music legends like Elvis Costello and is known for their modern hybrid of Latin rhythms and rock and roll. Raul Pacheco Y Los Dragones de Cumbia was formed by Ozomatli front man Raul Pacheco and is known for its lively and danceable Cumbia sound.
Numerous vendors selling hand-made clothing and original artwork, a beer and margarita bar provided by Agave’s, interactive opportunities, health & wellness information and authentic Latin Cuisine will also be featured at the event. Live music and dance performances will take place throughout the night on two stages and a children’s activity area will feature a variety of activities geared to younger guests. The Arts Council for Long Beach will provide piñata making and dance classes in the A Lot, located on the west side of Pine Avenue, just south of 7th Street.

BELMONT SHORE CAR SHOW SUNDAY 24TH ANNUAL

The fourteen-block stretch of East Second Street will be closed from Bayshore Avenue to Livingston Avenue for the event. Up to 600 classic cars will be on display making it one of the largest car shows of its kind on the West Coast. The side streets that intersect with Second Street will also be closed to the alleys for the purpose of exhibiting cars.
Attendees have the opportunity to intermix shopping and dining with viewing the gorgeous automobiles.
You can expect to find some of the first automobiles ever made as well as classic roadsters, coupes, sedans, convertibles, muscle cars, sports cars, hot rods and low riders from the 1920’s through the mid 1970’s. Many cars are one-of-a-kind, limited editions or customized.
WALKING, BIKING AND TAKING THE BUS IS A GREAT WAY TO AVOID FINDING PARKING
East 2nd St. from Livingstone to Bayshore and intersecting side streets from Quincy Ave. to Claremont Ave. will be closed to traffic from 5:00am to 5:00pm.
We recommend parking in the beach lot off Ocean Blvd.
